Newland House is a happy, friendly school that prides itself on the breadth of education it provides.

It has a fine record of academic and sporting success, a thriving music department, state-of-the-art computer facilities, an outstanding DT programme and so much more.

Newland House makes every effort to excel in Music, Art and DT.

In addition to the academic subjects Newland House encourages excellence in Music, Art and DT. The school has modern facilities for Music and DT. The school can provide lessons for all major musical instruments, and in most cases the instruments as well.

Newland House takes great pride in the academic achievements of pupils over many years.

The school offers small class sizes and a full range of academic subjects and takes great pride in consistently achieving excellent results in Common Entrance and Scholarship to leading boarding schools and London day schools.

Newland House makes every effort to excel in sport.

The school firmly believes that excellence in sport and a sense of fair play reflects the well-being of the school. The school's major sports are Rugby, Netball, Soccer and Cricket, although many others are catered for both within the school's curriculum and in after-school clubs. Thus the school has a very strong Swimming Squad and regularly performs well in the Richmond Borough Gala. Badminton is also strong at the school, winning six titles in as many years at the IAPS National Championships. Other sports at the school include Athletics, Rounders, Hockey, Squash, Tennis, Table Tennis, Chess, Boules and Croquet.

In short, there is something for everyone at Newland House.

About 40 children are admitted into the pre-preparatory department each year in a two form entry at the age of four each year.

Children move into the main school when they are 7+ and in this year there is an additional entry of approximately 20 children. Applicants for these places are interviewed and assessed in early January for entry the following September. Places occasionally become available during the year.

Boys are accepted on the understanding that they will sit the Common Entrance or Scholarship examination to their secondary school at the age of thirteen. Girls generally sit entrance examinations for local independent schools at the age of eleven, although some take the Common Entrance examination for boarding schools.

The school also participates in the Government's SATS tests and achieves scores well above the national averages.
