The fitzwilliam Museum has recently undergone a £12 million courtyard development, creating a new public space spread over four floors and featuring temporary exhibitions, medieval and renaissance art and 20th and 21st century art. Cambridge University Botanic Garden (10 km) - The Cambridge University Botanic Garden is a 40-acre oasis of beautifully landscaped gardens and glasshouses close to the heart of the historic city. Opened on its present site in 1846, the garden showcases a collection of some 8000 plant species Wimpole Home Farm (13 km) - When built in 1794, Wimpole Home Farm was one of the most advanced agricultural enterprises in the country. The Great Barn, now restored, holds a display of farm machinery and implements of the kind used at Wimpole over the past two centuries. On the farm visitors can see many rare breeds of horses, cattle, sheep, pigs and poultry and enjoy a range of activities such as grooming the donkeys and collecting eggs. Exit the M11 at junction 12 Wimpole Hall (13 km) - Wimpole Hall is one of the grandest mansions in East Anglia, and has 360 acres of parkland devised and planted by no less than four celebrated landscape designers, Charles Bridgeman, `Capability' Brown, Sanderson Miller and Humphrey Repton. The house was first built in 1643 University Museum of Archaeology & Anthropology (9 km) - The museum is part of the Faculty of Archaeology and Anthropology of the University of Cambridge. It was established in 1884 and is still housed in its 1916 building on the Downing Site in the city centre.
