The Derngate Theatre next to the Royal is a large modern theatre which can seat up to 1500 people, and changes its format according to the event, from boxing matches to classical or pop concerts, to full scale touring West End musicals.
About 4 miles out of Northampton, you will find Althorp, the former home of Diana Princess of Wales. You can visit the house and its collection of furniture and sculptures, and also an exhibition centre dedicated to Diana.
Whilst you are in the area, pay a visit to pretty Stoke Bruerne, a village about 5 miles south of Northampton alongside the Grand Union Canal. Visit the Canal Museum, take a trip on a narrowboat, or sit in one of the two lovely riverside pubs and watch the world go by.
