The Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is home to some of the most interesting and enjoyable attractions in London. From the ever-hip King's Road in Chelsea to the more recently popular Notting Hill; the shopping heaven that is Kensington High Street; the fantastic greenery and scenery of Kensington Gardens; or some of London's top museums, located in South Kensington. Kensington and Chelsea is the most affluent borough (local authority area) in Britain. Perhaps surprisingly then, it is apparently very popular with younger visitors because there are still much reasonably-priced accommodation available. These visitors, as well as numerous others, come to Kensington and Chelsea to explore many of the area's attractions From Heathrow Airport. If you've arrived at Heathrow Airport you can take the Airbus to Notting Hill Gate or the Underground. By Underground, take the Piccadilly Line to Earl's Court and change to the District Line for High Street Kensington and Notting Hill Gate, or another District Line branch for Gloucester Road, South Kensington and Sloane Square stations. Or, you might prefer to take the Heathrow Express train to Paddington Station, and then change for the Circle Line to Notting Hill Gate, High Street Kensington, Gloucester Road, South Kensington and Sloane Square. From Gatwick Airport. If you arrive at Gatwick Airport, take the Gatwick Express train to Victoria Station and then take the Underground to your destination (Circle, District and Victoria Lines). The London postcode of SW7 covers the areas of South Kensington, Knightsbridge and Queens Gate. While Queens Gate is more residential the other areas are rich in shopping, bars, restaurants and other amenities. This is a very exclusive and fashionable area of London. Knightsbridge is located by Hyde Park and is actually a road where the Household Cavalry, the section of the British army that guard the monarchy, are barracked. The whole of that area is known as Knightsbridge and here you will also find the Royal Albert Hall, a world renowned entertainment venue and large scale event venue, and one of the worlds most famous shops, Harrods. Harrods is actually on Brompton Road. London SW7 takes in the South side of Hyde Park which provides open spaces, horse riding, boating on the Serpentine Lake, the Serpentine gallery and is home to the magnificent Albert Memorial. Also within London SW7 are the hugely popular museums of Natural History Museum, Science Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum. Less well known is that SW7 is home to the headquarters of the Scout movement at Baden Powel House on the Cromwell Road. Within South Kensington are many hotels, apartments and private residences that make a great blend with fashionable shopping, places of interest and accommodation of all types. |
